Is a good solid mandolin. Although it is a somewhat cheap mandolin, it amazed me. One of the strings was a little hard to tune, but after awile playing it it went well. I re-strung it using D-addario Ricky Scaggs strings, but it was good anyway. Remember, instruments get better with age and sound better after playing it repeatedly.

I have played guitar for 30+ years and wanted to try a new instrument. I purchased this instrument just to see if I was interested in the mandolin in general.
Out of the box, there are several problems. The frets are horrible. The D strings buzz at the 8th fret. The little frets on the E and A strings near the body of the mando are non-functional.
I suggest re-stringing this mando with a new set of Bill Monroe strings, taking the pick guard off and lowering the bridge.
The neck seemed fairly straight, but time will tell. The finish is what one might expect from a $170 accoustic instrument.
The bridge isn't that hard to set. The intonation was a little more difficult to find if you're a perfectionist like myself, but if you're playing without a tuner, you'll never know the difference.
All in all, an acceptable instrument for the price. If you're serious about using this professionally, forget about it and purchase something of better quality! If you're looking to just check out the mando, it's not a bad buy.
The tuners are crap! I would suggest planning on replacing them ASAP. They are choppy and the heads are made of plastic.

As an active musician, my family decided to buy me this mando over the holidays. It looked great for the money and the action wasn't too bad. My biggest issues were inntonation and the tuning keys. I could not get the inntonation set to where I would be in tune above the 4th fret. One of the tuning keys also snapped off after the 5th tuning, so we sent it back for a Washburn. Save your money and buy an instrument that will grow old with you!

This Mandolin is the best mandolin I have ever used, owned or bought. Great sound quality, great action height. I am so happy with this instrument, I would recommend this to all my bluegrass buddies. i would never go back to the music store and buy instruments. I currently own 3 mandolins plus this one so...4 mandos, this one is the best, and I'm sticking to the Rogue mandolin/banjo brand.

This is a decent looking mandolin for the money,And the tone is not great but it's not horrible either. The problems I had was the bridge was to high even at the lowest setting and didn't set flush on the body (Could be fixed without to much trouble), tuning machines are junk
very hard to get in tune and stay there, first time I tried tuning the instrument one of the tuning buttons broke. I own a Rogue Dobro and am very satisfied with it, but I would spend a little more and get a better mandolin than this
