Mandolin/Uke pack

I have no problem at all with the mandolin in this package. The finish is nice considering what you pay, and once you get it tuned up, it's a nice little instrument. My problem was with the uke. It won't hold a tune for the life of it. That might have to do with the cheap plastic tuners and poorly strung strings. I'm pretty sure if I wanted to switch the plastic strings for real ones I wouldn't be able to. If you're looking at this and saying "oh cool, a mandolin AND a ukelele," save some money and just buy the mandolin. If you want a ukelele, go to Ovation or Oscar Schmidt.

This travel pack is pretty good for what you pay. You get a nicely made beginner's mandolin, a fun to play soprano ukulele, gig bags for both instruments, and a chord finder book for the mando (which I use often for transcribing guitar songs to the mandolin). This pack is definitely not for the experienced player of either instrument, but it is perfect for someone wanting to learn them, or wanting to simply expand their instrument collection.

both with gig bags! it's delightful little pacage a guitarist should invest in, just like a huge almost majority of big band musicians in pre-ww2 america played the chromaqtic harmonica too, it wouldn't hurt the players to round get a uke in a gag bag!

upgrade to grover tuner's & an ebony bridge

it's the winner in the backbacking mando

a street mando well under $200 after upgrade

thanks musicianfriend or rather guitar center for building rogue instruments, they rock!

I had a Rogue Hofner, finding it superior to the turser, I had no problems with this uke/madolin kit! The only flaw for the price are the tuning keys on the mandolin, but considering the price, it makes it so-o much easier to change them out for top of the line grovers. Change the tuners & a new set of bronze wound strings & I'm expecting a completely acceptible instrument for a beginner Plus a wacky litte uke! The action is a bit high, but the saddle can be shaved. But both instruments + gig bags is a completely acceptible deal
