I bought this Rogue a couple weeks ago. For about $80, it's tough to beat. No it's not a Gibson by any stretch of the imagination, but I didn't have to take-out a mortgage either. Super learning instrument. Easy to play. I did change the strings and it sounds even better. Don't let the name or price scare you away. If you're just wanting to give the lap steel a try, this is a great instrument to start on. Doesn't cost much, but does what you need.

Just A Beginner

I just bought this guitar a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. I'm just a beginner steel player but it has been a lot of fun so far. I did change the strings and tuned it to a C6 tuning and play it through a twin 12 amp and it sounds great! It's worth the money.

When I saw the price of the Rogue Lap Steel I couldn't resist. No, it's not for the pros but for occasional playing just for your own satisfaction, you cant' go wrong. The only fault I found were the light gauge strings that came with it. I changed to mediums and what a difference! If it came with better strings I would rate it at 5.0 in all categories. It's a great compact unit for a very fair price!

Right out of the box, it was ready to play. Tuners are solid, sturdy. Stays in tune well. Strings are not bad quality, although I would upgrade. Pickup sounds nice, but would reccommend upgrading. The gig bag is very nice as well. Overall, if you want a inexpensive starter lap steel to get those Hawaiian and Contry-like sounds, you can't go wrong with the Rogue EA-3!

I just got this unit about an hour ago. First off let me confess that I have a 1952 Fender Lap steel and I won't compare the two. I basically got this because I wanted a lap steel with legs that I won't have to worry about disappearing off stage between sets. Overall it appears to what you would expect for a China import. The normal quality issues. The problem I had right out the box was that one of the legs male connector was bent quite a bit and thus you have to be really careful screwing it into the bottom plate in the guitar. I've done it only two times and there are already signs of the low quality, thin base plate and the treads of the leg male connector stripping out. EXTREMELY LOW QUALITY, SOFT METAL.
