I wrote a review ealier and commented on a rattle in this dobro that we had noticed. I thought it was only fair to relate what I have found out. My son and I searched to find the source of this rattle and started with the tailpiece. I'd read other reviews about the tailpiece breaking on this instrument, and so thought I would check it out first. I could see right away this was not the culprit and, by the way, I think the tailpiece seems very thick and solid and I don't see how it would break (maybe it is a different tailpiece from these earlier reviews?). The rattle seemed to diminish when we pushed down on the strings at the bridge, so next we took off the strings and the cover plate and examined the bridge and the cone. All looked to be in order - no cracks in the cone - but where the ends of the spider bridge touched the cone there seemed to be the slightest gap. I loosened the bridge with the screw in the center (it seemed to be very tight and I didn't want to just try to crank it down more) and placed a small piece of felt right under the end points of the bridge where it rests on the cone. I tightened it back up, and put the cover and strings back on, and - voila - the rattle is history. The felt that I added did not seem to change the sound any discernable amount - it still whines and howls like the hound it is. Obviously the sound is much improved now because it no longer rattles no matter how hard you pick it. I don't know if the rattle would have gone away if I had merely tried to tighten the bridge adjuster bolt. It may have, but I really didn't want to chance stripping out that bolt. We are all very happy with our purchase of this instrument. Thank you Musicians Friend for a beautiful, super sounding instrument that did not break my Christmas budget!

I bought this for my son for Christmas. Shipping was fast and FREE, and I had to sneak it in the house around him. The instrument is beautiful - well appointed and a flawless finish. The sound is good and sounds just like a hounddog should. It's not the quality of a Dobro (my father in law has a 70's D-60!) but at a fraction of the price, it will work great for my son. (He absolutely loves it, by the way) My only complaint so far is that it does have a rattle somewhere. It can still be played, of course, but it is a nuisance. It's somewhere in the bridge or the tailpiece but he hasn't put it down long enough for me to really look it over and find the culprit. I'm sure that we can adjust something or pad something and it will no longer be a problem. Allin all - he loves it, I'm happy with it and I would definately recommend it to anyone wanting to try a reso without laying out a ton of money to do it.

I got mine 3 days ago this is my first resonator guitar although i've been playing an expensive dobro brand. The sound on the Rouge is clearer and louder no probablems with any of the hardware stays in tunevery nice finish except a ring where the sound box is on the back of it i ordered an extra tail peice just incase but so far it looks fine and a good set of strings will improve the sound quality for the price i think i got a good deal the shipping was right on time all lower end insturments requires personal set-up I hope you will enjoy yours for years to come

I purchased the Rogue Classic Spider round neck in Black. Extremely great finish and sound! I had purchased another brand at more than the Rogue and it doesn't sound any better. Watching now for a scratch N' dent square neck of this unit. I enjoy playing it while learning bottleneck blues from Bob Brozman's DVDS.

Ok I have an acoustic set up for bottle neck. A cheap Applause that serves me well. I thought I'd give this resonator a try and I am loving it! It sounds like an acoustic with a head cold. After taking some time and tweaks (raising the nut) it sings like there is no end. Cheap strings and the bottom speaker screen is a little messed up but for the price I could ask no more. I played an antique Dobro at the music store and was disappointed. It was bad. This guitar for the price sings so much better. Recommended!
