Can't Keep In Tune

This is a beginner's ukulele. I should've known from the price, but the workmanship on this is pretty bad. Rough edges, bad paint job, cheap wood. But the worst part is that I can't keep mine in tune very long. I'm always tuning it up. The tuning pegs aren't even flush with the headstock. I would've gladly paid more for Rouge to put just a little more work into this. Overall, it produces sound and is fun to play with. This will be a beat up junker for me.

My Opinion

Had this Uke for about a month now. It’s blast to play. Wanted a mini travel guitar wouldn’t worrying about dinging up in transit. Repainted it, used standard black gloss spray can lacquer. Photos here: Had no problem with the bridge as some have commented. I tune mine like the four strings on a traditional six string guitar D-G-B-E. Link to sample tuning audio: Nut and bridge saddle were removed & shaved down lowering the string height to make it more enjoyable to play. Bought a tortoise shell pick guard and silver decals from eBay for a few bucks to add a little character. This Uke makes you hunt for certain cords in other places on the neck you wouldn’t normally play them, causing you to find new cord patterns and progressions you might have otherwise overlooked on a six string guitar. It your looking for a neat little practice/travel guitar to noodle around on, I play blues riffs on it…LOL buy one!

This ukulele sounds pretty good, especially for the money, but it is visibly cheap - rough edges on the wood, uneven finish, fret markers that seem to have been attacked with a ball-point pen. I guess this would be good as a back-up, or a starter for someone who doesn't care about appearance?

I ordered this little ukulele for a special event. It sounded like garbage... Then, I changed the strings out. After stretching the strings enough, the little thing started staying in tune and started sounding pretty good. Beware that the strings that ship with it are terrible. Go ahead and order replacement strings when you buy it. You'll be a lot happier.

It's not a bad instrument and its fun to play. Since its a baritone model, a guitarist can pick up and start playing right away. REMEMBER - tune it as a baritone ukulele!!! (DGBE)
