First off I got a lankai peice of junk so I sent that back and got this. This ukulele I think is great for any beginner who wants to learn how to play. It came to me in perfect condition. It is really fun to learn on, the only problem is that its a real war to replace the battery. That is the only problem for me. Solution for that is to not play on an amp all the time unless you need to. Other than that

I would recomend this instrument to any beginner who is looking to step up in ukuleles.

This was my first ukulele and for the price I was expecting it to be kind of poor quality.

Actually the quality is great! I've had no problems with it, (except the battery, which I'll get to later)

It came well-packaged and although I had to replace the factory strings with Martins (a good choice anyway, the sound was MUCH improved) I found the intonation to be pretty good. It sounds great both acoustically and electrically. This uke is a lot of fun.

My only problem was getting the battery in the ukulele. I installed it with all the strings off and still had trouble accessing the inside of the ukulele. It took me about half an hour to get it in, but then I think the sound that results is worth the trouble.

Excellent beginner uke!

I bought two for my music store. Out of the I found serious problem with a glued joint coming apart. The bridge fell off two days later. Find another brand that does not fall apart unless you LIKE to glue things back together.

Well. I had a uke a few years ago that literally exploded, and have wanted another since. Finally decided to take the plunge with one of these. Money was an issue, so it seemed like the best plan to get one of these and be able to plug in with my band...thought it'd be fun. I was wrong. This uke doesn't really succeed as an acoustic instrument, nor as an electric one. For starters, this is NOT a "soprano" uke. The scale length is approximately that of a "concert" uke. Sure, they're tuned the same, but they don't sound the same. The scale length is also about 3/16" too short for proper intonation. MOving the bridge is not something I want to pay a luthier to do, but I may have to. Accurate intonation is IMPOSSIBLE. I refuse to listen to people who say that asking for accurate intonation on a uke is a fool's errand. I owned a cheapo uke that was in tune with itself up to the 12th fret, and this one, at approximately 3 times the cost of that one, is acceptably in tune with itself MAYBE up to the 5th fret. Next, the "pickup" is, shall we say, "rough." It must be some sort of unit that attaches to the underside of the soundboard, since there is nothing under the saddle. The electronics take up MOST of the interior of the instrument, and severely impede the acoustic sound. The neck is nicely bound, I'll say that. Otherwise, you get pretty much what you pay for. I guess I shouldn't have expected more.

Good sound, annoying to setup.

When I first got it, it was "broken" like a lot of people are saying in their reviews. By "broken," I'm pretty sure most people mean that the battery casing was flopping around inside the uke. That's not broken, it's just dissasembled, but I'll get to that later.

The OU2E Soprano Ukulele has a really nice sound, both plugged and unplugged. In my experience on my weak crate practice amp, this thing is LOUD. I have to turn down the settings that I use with my guitar. Adding pedals to the mix makes this uke a lot of fun to play with.

It stays in tune for extended periods of time, unlike most ukes that I play. I've only actively played up the 14th fret, but even then there is -no- fret buzz. I get compliments on the sound anytime I play around musicians.

The downside of the instrument is the aforementioned battery casing. In order to replace the battery, you have to unscrew the sliders and pull it out. Then, you have to put the battery on the casing and put it back in. THEN, you have to attach the casing to the sliders...FROM THE INSIDE. It's very difficult and it takes the loosening of atleast 1 strong. I don't know what they were thinking with that one.

Thankfully, that is the only downside to the instrument I've found. It plays great, sounds great, and looks great. Rock on, Oscar Schmidt.
