One of the better buys I've made. It projects well, and blasts when strummed with gusto. The finish and tuners are good, if the sharp contours and robust weight making it vaguely tanklike, but it's as exciting as a 12-string with one less pair of strings to tune, and, due to its smaller dimensions, more convenient to handle. (Three of the strings had small spots of corrosion.)

I just received mine yesterday and played it right away. The sound is sweet, loud and balanced. With a solid spruce top, I expect the sound to get better and better with age. The neck and low string action allows you to play it with comfort.

As far as visuals, it is not the most beautiful Cuatro, has minor cosmetic flaws (2) but the rosette and the binding make it look decent. The finish is nice. I noticed that the Cuatro has a Truss Rod which is not listed in the product specs. Anyway, for just $199.00 I just got a nice puertorrican style Cuatro.

This ethnic variation on the guitar is different and unique. It is well made and has a wonderfully mellow sound. It sounds like a cittern or a cross between a 12 string guitar and an octave mandolin or mandolin. I collect unusual instruments, and this is one of my favorite. I plan on restringing it with nickel silver strings (what it traditionally is strung with). I only discovered this insrument a few months ago, so I cannot compare it with any make or other brand, but it sounds really great.
