The Moog Etherwave Theremin is based on one of the oldest electronic instruments. You play it without touching it by just moving your hands near its antennas. Used on great classic recordings like "Good Vibrations" and '50s sci-fi soundtracks, it adds amazing coloration to any performance or recording or can be played as a serious solo instrument. This authentic adaptation of Leon Theremin's original design features a 5-octave pitch range and reliable spacing between notes for sophisticated playability. Rotary pitch, volume, waveform, and brightness controls let you fine-tune your performance. Nickel plated brass tube antennas and furniture-grade hardwood black cabinet. Adapter for mounting on standard mic stand with line-level 1/4" out. Also includes power supply.

Comes with 2 videotapes: Clara Rockmore: the Greatest Theremin Virtuosa, which includes performances and a conversation with the world-renowned thereminist, filmed in 1976; and Mastering the Theremin which includes 6 lessons with Lydia Kavina, including exercises designed by Clara Rockmore. Lydia is one of the few professional thereminists in the world and a master teacher on the instrument. This is the main resource you need for learning to play theremin or for improving your technique.

Not your father's Moog

Experience w/product: I own it
Reviewer's Background: Active musician
Reviewer's Play Style: Aternative
Sadly, these etherwaves are not up to par with the "old school" Moog theremins. Tone quality is surprisingly bland, far from the eerily clear classic theremin sound. More worrisome, the pitch drifts dramatically, even during single playing sessions. Build quality doesn't seem particularly rugged.
