One of the best for under $5000

I had the job of intonating one of these, and was actually kind of impressed for the price it is a decent pedal steel. I an a bit of a snob when it comes to instruments, and grew up around Gibson, Fender, Martin, Bigsby/Sho Bud etc. This is 33 pounds lighter than my Sho Bud Pro 3, and costs about the same as the Sho Bud did in 1978, so that in itself is a good sign, and the quality is maybe not quite as good in some respects, yet better in others. Overall it IS a GOOD PEDAL STEEL, but if you want the Les Paul of Pedal Steels at least double the price if not multiply it by 20. Yes I said 20. I have had pedal steels that are custom hand made with superb details, but $45,000. I can not see $41,000 difference in this. It is the sound, and ability to stay in tune that counts, and this has a nice sound, VERY NICE INDEED. It stays in tune quite well also, but the mechanism may be a tiny bit noisier than the Sho Buds, and some Fenders, but it usually never gets amplified. Nice instrument for a great 70s price. Peace, and break it down, and jam classic country style, Yeee haw man I love that vibe. From Handel to Hendrix to Hank Williams I love it all.

A GREAT INSTRUMENT

This is my first pedal steel purchase. I can say many great things about this instrument. It has a very eye appealing look, the quality of the instrument seems to be topnotch. Even though this is my first pedal steel purchase the sound is relevant to what you are playing it through however the sound is absoulutely heavenly. The technical support has been wonderful even for just in general questions about the instrument as far as the manufactuer is concerned. The biggest draw back is that you can only get the proper string guages from the manufacturer and they "aint cheap". It has a kit for raising and lowering the instrument as well for a nice price tag that goes along side. I am meticulous to details and as far as quality and sound there is not a better instrument on the market for the price in my opinion. I do not recommend getting the starter package with it... buy these things seperately. You will save money and probably get better stuff.
