Sometimes you think something is better because it costs more and is has less quality when it cost you less. Nothing could be farther from the truth with this instrument. If I played one in a store and it had no price tag I would have said it was probably worth $1500. I love it - a very balanced sound...the fit and finish is perfect...

The only mid-price Dobro choice

I played a Regal squareneck before I bought this. The Gold Tone squareneck makes that thing sound like a tin whistle.

To put it plainly- if you've played Dobro for any amount of time, you know who Paul Beard is. And if you know who Paul Beard is, you know his resonator cones sound exactly the way a squareneck resonator should sound-and that's exactly what's sitting in this bad boy. Absolutely the best value on a squareneck Dobro without shelling out big bucks for a Beard, Scheerhorn, or Dobro model, bar none. Its high notes can sing or shout, and its lows can hum or growl. All the tonal complexity of a much, MUCH more expensive model. These instruments are a steal- they should be selling them for much more, but they're not! Get one now and watch its value skyrocket!

I've had this resonator for about one year. I did quite a bit of research before making my final decision and everything I read led me to the Goldtone from Paul Beard. I've been playing Gibsons for nearly 40 years so it was hard to admit that there was anytning better but when it came to a resonator, this was it. It arrived in flawless condition and was set up perfectly. It has plenty of volume, a warm tone and a great neck. You won't go wrong for the money...aqnd if you want ot trade up to a Paul Beard, they offer a trade-in...go for it.

Been playing mine for several years now and have not had any trouble, no adjustments or anything. Plays like a dream and makes you melt when you hear it. I love this instrument.
