I picked up this guitar in my local music store one day and I was absolutely in love. I played this clean, beautiful instrument untill the store manager kicked me out. haha. After seeing how much this instrument cost (I thought it would've cost more) I decided once I was a litle more well off I would buy it. Anyone would be a fool not to.

Hat's off to the MM-50

The MM-50 is the very first mandolin I bought years ago after listening David Grisman's "Hot Dawg" cd. Since then, I've purchased others that were much more expensive & much less expensive and this is still, by far, my favorite instrument. I can't necessarily vouch for the current mfg since I got mine so long ago, but if they managed to maintain the same quality, I'd say this is a keeper. It doesn't necessarily have as deep of a low side as my Gibson F-9, but it holds it's own and I'm not sure if I'm completely satisfied with the sound of the F-9 anyway- it kind of has a muffled quality that the Epi does not have.

What A Shame...

I purchased an MM50 recently, must say I'm not impressed by the quality of this product. The first mandolin I received seemed decent enough, until the pickguard fell off later that evening. I have just received a replacement and this one is worse than the first. The binding it poorly done. The stain is sloppy. And on top of that, the fingerboard is dented and chipped. Overall I'm not impressed by Epiphone quality these days, then again what do you expect when it's all made in China.

Very Nice Mandolin

I was at a local music store for some acoustic guitar strings, and I decided to see what they have in terms of mandolins. I played the two other mandolins, but the Epiphone MM-50 was the best of the bunch. Compared to my Johnson A-style mandolin (which, don't get me wrong, is a great instrument), this was in another league. It felt so good and was unbelievably easy to play. I'm from the school of school of thought that one shouldn't blame their instrument for their playing ability, but this thing blew me away. I played some tunes and chords on it and fell in love. This mandolin is a stellar step up instrument or even first, especially given the price. I know exactly what I want for my birthday.
