If you are looking for a banjo that is not only the best quality beginner banjo that I have played but also a great travel banjo, than look no further than this banjo. It is the best quality for the money that you will find in a banjo I have been playing for a number of years and though this banjo may seem basic to a lot of other starter banjos the quality and tone of this banjo far exceeds others around this price range. I play a Gibson most of the time but if I travel anywhere and want to take a banjo to stay in practice the goodtime gets the job. If you are looking to learn the banjo and want high quality without spending thousands this is the banjo for you. The one negative I do have is that I wish it had an armrest,it gets a little uncomfortable , but I guess theres always the Goodtime II.

Loud, Punchy, great bluegrass banjo. I suggest putting a resonator, for that extra kick. love the banjo. from starting out on forward and reverse rolls, to playing wagon wheel at a festival. Great Banjo.

I have owned my gootime now for a year, and have played it hours on end, somtimes five hours none stop. And this banjo has taken the ware and tear very well. As a matter of fact it still looks almost as good as when I bought it. The maple on the banjo is tuff and and dearing still put good hardware on this banjo. Even though this banjo dose not have a tone ring, it still has a good woody sound to it wich is grate for oldtime music. I now play a deering seirra and use my goodtime as a travel banjo, so I always have a good sounding banjo with me. This banjo is also very light so it is easy to pack around, I truly beleve this is the best banjo for to take camping or to learn off of.

I recently purchased this banjo after using one in a claw hammer banjo class for one semester. I fell in love with the instrument then. After getting this one, I can say that I'm even more in love with this banjo! It is light weight, has excellent craftsmanship, the materials are top notch, has a great ring to it, and low action. What isn't there to love? This banjo is a great starter instrument. Sure can't beat it for the price! I see this one being around for a long time.

I got this banjo as a gift two years ago and I have taken it on countless camping trips--it's lightweight and very easy to play and the quality couldn't be better for the price.
