I tried a cheaper 6 string banjo but this one really has great sound and is easy to play. The craftsmanship is excellent. I am impressed with the quality of sound and have many friends who feel the same. If you are in the market for this type of instrument spend the extra money and you won't be disappointed.

I just received my Deering B6 and I can already see that it will be one of my favorite instruments. I own 15 assorted guitars. I have been playing flatpick style bluegrass guitar for about 3 years now. The Deering B6 will allow me to do some banjo music without the learning curve of a new instrument. To me, the banjo sound is perfect. The B6 has good acoustic volume and also sounds great when played up the neck. The B6 is a bit on the heavy side--but a substantial strap will give you the required comfort for long sessions. I played my new Deering for almost 3 hours on its first music session without any pain or strain. In my opinion, the heft of the instrument is a sign of quality. The fit and finish overall are great. The wood, the hardware, the fretboard all look great. I have a cheaper resonator guitar--but it is no comparison to the Deering. I will be donating my resonator guitar to a budding musician in need.

With Banjo's the heavier the better. It reflects quality in construction and sound. But be prepared if you are used to a lightweight guitar, These things do weigh a bit more than your average tele. A great value and a great banjo/guitar

This is a real heavy log of an instrument. I see why so many wind up on e-bay. Overall, the quality and workmanship is excellent with the exception of the metalwork which is rather crude for the price. I don't know when I have been more disappointed. The weight, feel, and playabilty is just plain cumbersome. I think Deering could make this a lighter and smaller package if they tried.

Truly delightful sound! Fun to play, although it seems a bit heavy (weight-wise) compaired to my guitar.
